It’s been a busy week in podcast-ville. The industry continues to move at a pace and as podcasters, our job is to continue to serve our audience in the very, very best way that we can.

Here at Captivate, we’re podcasters but also we make the platform that you use to host, distribute and market your show and you know that everything we do is geared up to help you to grow your podcast audience.

Last week we big the big announcement that Captivate is now IAB certified as a hosting and analytics provider, which is superb for you as an independent podcaster looking to work with sponsors. To make that even easier for you, we just updated your one-click sponsor kit to include the IAB verified seal so that your potential sponsors can see that your downloads and podcast data is verified as accurate.

Pretty sweet, right!

We also spoke to a lot of podcasters and of course, one of our advisors Mr. Daniel J. Lewis about some tweaks to the Captivate embeddable podcast player. We spotted that podcasters have so many different workflows and tech stacks and our job, as ever, is to give you the most flexible tools for growing your podcast audience.

So, we’ve made the customization options for your Captivate embeddable podcast player really, really flexible.

You can now choose what to show on the player, from show notes to subscription links, calls to action and donation links. This is really cool for those podcasters who may have a website design, for example, podcast websites using WordPress, where they have a layout that includes things that may be duplicated in the player (e.g. show notes, subscription links, etc) and means that you can really tailor the player to suit your embed needs.

Oh last up, we decided to overhaul how we show your social and external links if you’re using Captivate Sites for your podcast’s website – it’s a bit nicer looking and includes a bit more flexibility for your external links.

Saweeeeeet work from the engineering team – thanks, you lot!

Check out the release notes over on the Captivate changelog.

Much love,
Mark
